Sign Pollution – SPAM for the Real World

22 October, 2007 (17:26) | Community Issues, Opinion | By: Aaron Dickinson - Edina Realty

There’s a few agents in town that have a tendency to go nuts with open house signs… I know one that puts up signs on busy interesections a mile away, another puts 2 signs on 2 corners, and a third will put up 15+ signs.   I’ve also seen an agent that put up directional arrows for houses that have sold.  How do I know this?  Because the arrow has “sold” on it!

I would love to show you examples, but that would single out agents…

Now I know that some agents are desperate to get people through open houses and/or are trying to build name recognition, but going nuts on real estate signs is unprofessional and just not nice.  It’s like SPAM… one or two isn’t a big nuisance but when you get more and more every week, you get a little militant about them!

Not too mention that many of those signs violate local city ordinances. Abuse of the privilege will eventually cause the city to remove everyone’s signs.

. . So many signs I can’t take them all in. Easy to ignore . . I wonder how effective they are.
