Surge in Twin Cities Home Buyer Interest?

In the last couple weeks I have seen a surge in buyer interest in some of my listings and have even received a few offers.  To me it feels like there is stronger buyer interest now than we’ve seen since before Thanksgiving – and I bet that the statistics will support my feelings when they come out in the coming weeks.

While this time of year is always the beginning of the spring surge in buyer activity I am not predicting a stronger Spring 2011 than we had in 2010, mainly because this year we don’t have a home buyer tax credit goosing demand beyond the fundamentals.  I do guarantee you though that we’ve passed the slowest time of the year for real estate and that buyer activity will steadily climb in the next few months.

We have ample inventory of homes available (and still more coming) so there will be no huge run-up in prices this year but I urge buyers that fall in love with a home to move quickly to ensure that they have the best negotiating position available… I do expect the best houses will have multiple offers again this year.
