The largest city in central Minnesota, the “Granite City” is located 65 miles northwest of the Twin Cities. Including a handful of surrounding towns, the St. Cloud metropolitan area had a population of more than 189,000 in the 2010 census, making it the third-largest population center in the state. The Mississippi River and I-94 pass through St. Cloud.

In addition to being a well respected institution of higher learning, St. Cloud State University is also home to one of Minnesota’s five Division I hockey programs.
St. Cloud maintains 95 parks, ranging from small neighborhood parks to the 243-acre Whitney Memorial Park, located on the former site of the city airport.
Test scores were slightly higher than the state average in both math and reading in 2010, according to a Money Magazine report.
St. Cloud was recently chosen to host the Can-Am Police and Fire Games in 2012.
