Cottage Grove, MN is conveniently located just east of St. Paul.  Cottage Grove is home to 27 parks — one a dog park — as well as golf courses, athletic fields, an ice arena and other recreation venues. Cottage Grove is part of the South Washington County School District and is served by four high schools, four middle schools, and 16 elementary schools. Test scores were 15.2 percent higher than the state average in reading and 20.6 percent higher in math in 2011, according to Money Magazine.

The city experienced modest 6.05 percent job growth from 2000 to 2010.

Cottage Grove, just minutes southeast of I-494, is located less than 15 minutes from downtown St. Paul and a short 30-minute drive from both the Mall of America and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in Bloomington.
