Centrally located between Minneapolis and St. Cloud, Elk River offers a small-town feel with “big city” amenities. And that’s evidently a big draw to employers. The City of Elk River has over 44 community and neighborhood parks totaling over 800 acres, as well as one 9-hole and one 18-hole golf course. Other recreational facilities include a hockey arena, and a variety of sport-specific athletic fields.
A good school system is another feather in Elk River’s cap. Test scores were 17.3 percent higher than the state average in reading and 13.7 percent higher in math in 2011, according to Money Magazine.
