Located at the confluence of the Mississippi and St. Croix rivers, Hastings offers some of the most gorgeous views in the state. But the city is also a lot more than just eye candy.

The Hastings parks and recreation department maintains 33 parks, covering more than 400 acres and including such amenities as a disc golf course, sand volleyball courts, outdoor ice rinks, tennis courts and numerous other athletic facilities. Hastings also has 28 miles of trails, most of them allowing residents to drink in some of those great views.
Hastings, where the median age is 39.5, experienced impressive 19.75 percent job growth from 2000 to 2010, which was among the best growth rates for the metropolitan area in that time.
Test scores were 11.9 percent higher than the state average in reading and 11.2 percent higher in math in 2011, according to Money Magazine.
The air quality index—measured in the number of days ranked as “good”— is 83.0 percent.
