Rosemount, MN is situated south of the Twin Cities. Rosemount has a lot to hang its hat on — good schools, good location, clean air — but if town fathers had to pick one thing to brag about, it would probably be the city’s impressive recent job growth.

According to census data, the city experienced 46.22 percent job growth from 2000 to 2010, one of the top growth rates in the Twin Cities. More than 500 acres of industrial and commercial zoned land have been set aside for development in Rosemount, a sign that the recent growth is expected to continue.
Rosemount is also home to Flint Hills Resources’ Pine Bend Refinery, which is the largest oil refinery in Minnesota and the 14th-largest in the United States. The refinery produces fuels such as gasoline, diesel, propane and butane, and supplies much of the jet fuel used at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, according to the company’s website. The refinery also manufactures asphalt, heating fuels, and sulfur for fertilizers.
The city still manages to score well when it comes to air quality. The air quality index—measured in the number of days ranked as “good”— is 83.0 percent.
Rosemount’s school system is also good. Test scores were 17.3 percent higher than the state average in reading and 15.5 percent higher in math in 2011, according to Money Magazine.
